Emergency Management

Ready to quickly and effectively respond to pipeline incidents

Canada’s transmission pipelines stretch for 117,800 kilometres, from wilderness to urban environments. Through careful planning, continuous practice and thorough preparation, CEPA members are ready to handle any incidents, anywhere they might occur. This is why emergency management was the first priority that CEPA Integrity First® addressed.

All of Canada’s transmission pipeline companies worked together to combine their expertise and experience to create standard emergency management processes and procedures, and then experts were brought in for third-party verification. The experts were from Environmental Resource Management Certification Verification Services (CVS), an international organization based in London, England.

Through the verification process in 2016 and 2017, experts from CVS worked with members to rigorously review the procedures and processes in action. The verification process is now complete and CEPA is sharing leading practices identified among members.
